Effect of growth hormone on hepatic carcinogenesis and cirrhosis in AxC rats given N-2 fluorenyldiacetamide.
نویسنده
چکیده
Inbred AxC strain male and female rats were fed 0.025% 7V-2-fluorenyldiacetamide in the diet. Growth hormone was administered to intact and castrated animals to determine its effect on carcinogenesis and cirrhosis of the liver. Growth hormone increased the incidence of hyperplastic and neoplastic lesions and cirrhosis in both castrated males and castrated females, but it did not exert any effect in the intact animals.

Inhibition of N-2-fluorenyldiacetamide induced hepatic carcinogenesis in rats by chloramphenicol: a dose-related phenomenon with reduced protein binding of carcinogen.
In 1965 a preliminary study revealed the protective effect of oral chloramphenicol in adult male Wistar rats against hepatic carcinogenesis and cirrhosis induced by feeding 0.05%o N-2-fluorenyldiacetamide in a semisynthetic diet of Morris.! The chloramphenicol was fed at the level of 2 percent in the diet as the maximal tolerated dose according to the recommendation of Dr. A. C. Bratton, Jr., D...
متن کاملThe effect of berberine nanomicelles on hepatic cirrhosis in bile duct-ligated rats
Objective (s): The anti-fibrotic effect of chronic berberine (BBR) had demonstrated previously in a rat model of bile duct ligation (BDL). The aim of present study was to investigate hepatoprotective effect of BBR nanomicelles on liver cirrhosis induced by BDL in male rats.Materials and methods: After 21 days of drugs’ treatments, the serum and tissue levels of hepatic markers were measured and...
متن کاملEvaluation of the role of TLR4 in endotoxin-induced hepatic encephalopathy in rats with biliary cirrhosis
Background: Hepatic encephalopathy is defined as a neuropsychiatric brain dysfunction in acute or chronic liver failure. Infection and inflammation have crucial role in its pathophysiology. The purpose of our study was to demonstrate the relationship between toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) expression and the encephalopathy induced with endotoxin in biliary cirrhotic rats. Methods: The present stud...
متن کاملCurcumin enhances liver SIRT3 expression in the rat model of cirrhosis
Objective(s): Bill duct ligation (BDL) is a representative model of biliary cholestasis in animals. Curcumin has a protective effect on the liver; however, its underlying mechanisms are not completely known. This study explored the hepatoprotective activity of curcumin on hepatic damage via measuring the expression of sirtuin3 (SIRT3), AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), carnitine palmitoyltra...

Background: Lead (Pb) is one of the ubiquitous nonessential haevy metals in the environment. There are evidences, which show that lead toxicity has many undesired effects, including neurological, behavioral, immunological, renal, hepatic, male reproductive, dysfunctions. The objective of the present study was to investigate the effects of aqueous garlic extracts, vitamin E and N-Acetylcysteine ...
